TalkMoves is a set of classroom transcripts analyzed for "talk moves", or discursive actions by students and teachers to create a discussion-based learning environment. Each transcript represents one classroom lesson. Every statement in every transcript was human-annotated for three types of talk moves. Subset 1 includes data taken from the 1990s, while Subset 2 contains data collected from the early 2020s.
This data is useful for understanding classroom discursive moves and training models to automatically detect classroom discourse moves.
